Description:	Dr. Cline's laboratory is interested in determining the cellular mechanisms by which activity in the brain controls neuronal growth, synaptogenesis, and the development of organized sensory projections between different brain regions. Their approach is to study the development of the retinal projection to the optic tectum in Xenopus tadpoles, using three major techniques: (1) in vivo time-lapse confocal imaging; (2) genetic manipulation using electroporation; and (3) electrophysiological examination of synaptic transmission.
