Description: The Centers of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence (CCNEs) integrate nanotechnology development into basic and applied cancer research to facilitate rapid clinical application of advanced technologies. The Centers are the core units of the science and technology programs supported by the National Cancer Institute's Alliance for Nanotechnology In Cancer. Each CCNE functions as a consortia or network of laboratories and research facilities organized to address one or more of the six programmatic areas of emphasis identified in the Cancer Nanotechnology Plan as its focus for technology platform development: molecular imaging/early detection, in vivo imaging, reporters of efficacy, multifunctional therapeutics, prevention and control, and research enablers.
