The aim of the lecture is to understand the current status of research on the relationships between obesity and cancer; to explore the established and emerging mechanisms underlying the obesity-cancer link; to discuss the current status of research on the anticancer effects and underlying mechanisms of weight loss and related interventions, including calorie restriction, fasting, fasting-mimicking diets, ketogenic diets, bariatric surgery, and pharmacologic approaches; and to describe approaches to enhance translational progress in obesity, energy balance and cancer research by better integration of preclinical and human research to decrease the burden of obesity on cancer in humans.
