Description:	This is the first national conference on reducing costs and improving health care through implementation of personal electronic health records (PEHR) since the Obama Administration announced its intent to make this technology a cornerstone of its health reform efforts. (A personal electronic health record refers to an individual patient’s medical record in digital format. Electronic health record systems coordinate the storage and retrieval of individual records with the aid of computers.) Expert developers and implementers (from such companies as Google, Microsoft and IBM) will review alternative systems and their settings. In addition, presentations from top government healthcare officials, healthcare industry leaders and bioinformatics experts will cover system, clinical, patient, research, legal/ethical and national policy issues.
