\nA special session of the Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee (RAC). The Committee will review new data from a study of retroviral-mediated gene transfer in X-linked Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (X-SCID) important to understanding the safety of gene transfer clinical trials that use retroviral vectors. This special session is being convened because of the potential significance of these new data and the need for expeditious deliberation and public discussion of their potential implications. In light of these data, the RAC will revisit its December 2002 recommendations on the safety of gene transfer trials for SCID and will determine if additional recommendations are warranted for other gene transfer clinical trials using retroviral vectors. \n
