\nThe National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) sponsors the monthly NIH Health Disparities Seminar Series. The forum disseminates information on advances, gaps, and current issues related to health disparities research. The theme for the July seminar series is the social determinants of health. \n

\nPlace matters: where we live, work, study and play is critically important for health – and more so for children. This presentation will summarize research on the negative effects of racial and socioeconomic segregation on health, and highlight some of the challenges and opportunities in applying research to policy and practice to address health inequities and improve health opportunities. \n
