SO ONE THING -- ONE THING THAT I LEARNED IS THAT I ONLY HAVE SO MANY HOURS DURING THE DAY AND I ONLY HAVE SO MANY RESOURCES. SO I HAVE TO BE SUPER CLEAR AND SPECIFIC HOW DO I SPEND THOSE RESOURCES. AND MY TIME. I REALIZE THAT IT'S ALL ABOUT GENERATING MOMENTUM. SO AS AN ENTREPRENEUR, WHATEVER PROJECT YOU HAVE, IT'S ALL ABOUT GENERATING MOMENTUM AND MAKING THINGS EASIER. THERE'S WAYS TO GENERATE MOMENTUM, CONSTANTLY TAKING ACTION ON SMALL STEPS THAT WILL MOVE YOU FORWARD. THAT'S EVERY DAY THING THAT YOU CAN DO. BUT ALSO LIKE MORE IN LONG TERM IS FOCUSING ON PROJECTS THAT GIVE YOU LEVERAGE. I WILL GIVE YOU EXAMPLE MY CAREER. I CAME BACK A YEAR AGO FROM THAT PROJECT. I CAME BACK BROKE AND HOMELESS BECAUSE I INVESTED EVERYTHING IN THAT PROJECT. I CAME BACK AND MY MIND WAS NOT IN THE RIGHT PLACE TO BE HERE. -- TO BE FAIR. I WAS JUST LIKE A WILD ANIMAL. THEN I REALIZED THAT AFTER RESEARCHING SPEAKERS I REALIZE THAT SPEAKING WAS ONLY ONE WAY FOR ME TO SHARE MY WISDOM OR MESSAGE. YOU CAN WRITE BLOGS AND PODCASTS AND BUNCH OF DIFFERENT THINGS. SO AFTER RESEARCH, I DECIDED I WANTED TO BE A SPEAKER, I WANTED TO WRITE BOOKS AND BE A COACH FOR THREE REASONS. ONE I LOVE BEING ON STAGE. I LOVE TO WRITE BOOKS BECAUSE THIS IS A PLATFORM FOR ME TO EXPRESS IDEAS I DON'T GET TO EXPRESS, SPIRITUALTY AND ONE ON ONE COACHING BECAUSE I LOVE TO IMPACT PEOPLE ONE ON ONE. I HAD ZERO RESOURCES. REAL FAST. I RESEARCH SPEAKERS AND OKAY TED TALKS LIKE ALL THE SPEAKERS THAT I WISH TO BE LIKE, THEY HAVE A TED TALK. ALL THE SPEAKERS I WISH TO BE LIKE HAVE A BOOK. SO FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS I DID NOTHING BUT FOCUS ON THOSE GOALS. DOING TED TALKS AND WRITEING A BOOK. SO I PUBLISHED A BOOK COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND THIS YEAR I DID THREE TED TALKS AND I'M GOING TO DO ANOTHER ONE IN THREE WEEKS. APPRECIATE THAT. [APPLAUSE] WITHIN THIS YEAR I HAVE GONE FROM AND COMPLETELY HONEST WITH YOU GUYS, GONE FROM CHARGING LIKE ZERO DOLLARS TO SPEAK TO $500 TO LIKE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SPEAK. ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE SPEAKER INDUSTRY TOLD ME IT WILL TAKE YOU YEARS, YOU HAVE TO SPEAK FOR FREE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS THEN YOU HAVE TO SLOWLY BUILD INCREASE YOUR FEES MAYBE IN FIVE YEARS YOU'LL BE AT THE LEVEL I AM. THAT'S ONE OF THE MOVE POWERFUL THINGS YOU CAN DO IN PROJECT. FOR EXAMPLE, HAVE YOU HEARD THE PILGRIMAGE IN SPAIN? THIS IS A FAMOUS PILGRIMAGING WHERE YOU WALK THE ENTIRE COUNTRY OF SPAIN. I DID IT. I WALKED IT FIVE YEARS AGO, I TOOK 40 DAY, I WALKED 17-MILES A DAY FOR 40 DAYS, YOU HAVE TO DAIRY A BACKPACK WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU NEED. YOU NEED CLOTHES AND YOU NEED, I HAD A CAMERA AND SOMETHING ELSE BUT THAT BACKPACK YOU'RE GOING TO CARRY 40 DAYS SO EVERYTHING IN THAT BACKPACK GETTER BE COMPLETELY SEMI. IF NOT WHY YOU GOING TORY THAT THING FOR -- CARRY THAT THING FOR 40 DAYS. AT THE BEGINNING I HAD THREE SETS OF PANTS MEDICINE AND DAILY I REALIZED I DIDN'T NEED IT AND IT WAS NOT ESSENTIAL TODAY, I'M NOT GOING TO CARRY THIS THING. BY THE END I THINK I CUT IT IN HALF AND I REALIZED THAT A LOT OF TIMES WE START PROJECTS LIKE THAT THINKING WE NEED TO ADD THINGS INTO OUR TOOL SET INSTEAD OF GETTING RID OF NON-ESSENTIAL AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD AND ONE WE ACTUALLY NEED IT, PUT IT INTO PLACE. SO AS FAR AS LIKE JUST THE GOAL, AND I SAY HAVE A CLEAR VISION BECAUSE TO ME HAVING A CLEAR VISION IS MORE POWERFUL THAN A CLEAR GOAL. BECAUSE LIKE HAVING A CLEAR VISION, IT'S HAVING A CLEAR, CONCISE OUTCOME HOW DO YOU WANT THE THINGS TO LOOK AT THE END. TO GIVE AN EXAMPLE, WE WANTED TO CYCLE THE AMERICAN, MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF THE PROJECT. SO ONE PERSPECTIVE WOULD BE THAT WE WANTED TO CYCLE THE AMERICAS AND RECORD -- SHARE THE STORY AND ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE WOULD BE CYCLE THE AMERICAS AND SHARE THE STORIES OF THE PEOPLE IN AMERICAS. THOSE COULD BE POTENTIALLY COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. SO WE DIDN'T HAVE LIKE A SUPER CLEAR IMAGE OF WHAT WAS FINAL OUTCOME AND EVERYBODY ON THE TEAM HAVE THE SAME IMAGE. THAT'S WHY WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE TEAM -- MOST TEAMS THAT I WORK WITH, MOST TEAMS ALL THE TEAMS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS THE GOAL. THEY HAVE A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE WHAT THE GOAL SHOULDN'T. THAT'S BECAUSE -- SHOULD BE. IT'S ONE NORMALLY EACH MEMBER OF THE TEAM HAS A DIFFERENT VISION. SO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CLEAR VISION NOT ONLY WRITTEN GOAL BUT CLEAR VISION WHY THE GOAL IS GOING TO BE SO EVERYBODY ON THE TEAM CAN ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT ARE THEY WORKING FOR. THAT'S ME. THIS TO ME WAS REALLY POWERFUL. AND APPLIES TO YOU GUYS BECAUSE I TEND TO WANT TO ACHIEVE REALLY MASSIVE GOALS. AND THEN I GET BUMMED OUT BECAUSE I REALIZE THAT IT'S GOING THE TAKE TOO LONG AND I'M NOWHERE NEAR. THAN I DON'T DO ANYTHING FOR A WHILE. BECAUSE I JUST TELL MYSELF THAT I'M NOT NEAR WHERE I WANT TO BE. AND THEN I JUST DON'T TAKE ACTION FOREVER UNTIL I BORE MYSELF TO TAKE ACTION. AT SOME POINT I REALIZE ONE BIGGEST THING I CAN DO FOR MYSELF AND FOR THE PROJECTS THAT I WAS WORKING WITH WAS JUST ACCEPT THAT I WAS THERE. WHEN I STARTED THE TRIP, I DIDN'T TRAIN FOR STUPID REASON. I JUST DIDN'T FEEL LIKE TRAINING. I JUST LIKE -- I'M GOING THE TRAIN ALONG THE WAY. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. BUT YEAH, THEN THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS JUST LIKE JUST CYCLE TODAY A LITTLE MORE THAN YOU CYCLED YESTERDAY. I KNOW YOU WANT TO GET TO THE END OF THE WORLD, GOING TO TAKE YOU 21 MONTHS AND IF I HAD FOCUS THAT IT'S GOING TO TAKE 21 MONTHS I PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE ONLY THING I KNEW WAS THAT I HAD TO CYCLE CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES A DAY. THAT IS MANAGEABLE. INSTEAD OF SAYING I HAVE TO CYCLE THE EARTH, JUST CYCLE A LITTLE MORE TODAY. NEXT DAY CYCLE MORE. THAT'S MY TEAM AGAIN. I LIKE TO SHARE PHOTOS OF MY TEAM. I WANT TO GET TO A CERTAIN PLACE I'M SPEAKING ALL OVER THE WORLD AND WRITING BOOKS AND I'M COACHING PEOPLE SO WHAT ARE THE STEPS I THINK AS MUCH AS I CAN, CLEAR AS I CAN WHAT ARE THE STEPS THAT I NEED TO DO BACKWARDS TO GET TO WHERE I'M AT. I KNOW PEOPLE AT THIS LEVEL, ALL OF THEM CHARGE SO MUCH, ALL OF THEM HAVE SPOKEN IN THREE DIFFERENT COUNTRIES AND ALL THEM GO BACKWARDS. I'LL JUST FOCUS ON WHAT I'M DOING TODAY AND FOCUSING ON SPEAKING AND MAYBE A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE I START LIVING MY NEXT ADVENTURE I'LL FIGURE OUT LOGISTICS BUT BEFORE THAT IT'S ALWAYS TO GET CAUGHT UP IN THE WAY, WAY FUTURE. OTHER THAN THAT, I JUST DON'T SPEND TIME IN ANYTHING ELSE I'M CLEAR WHAT ABOUT ARE THE STEPS I NEED TO TAKE ON A DAILY BASIS. I'M CONSTANTLY TRYING TO GET RID OF WHATEVER I DON'T THINK IS ESSENTIAL. WHAT I MEAN BY THAT, QUICK STORY, SO WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD DOING SOME DOCUMENTARY WORK FOR LIVE STRONG. THAT PROJECT WAS IN THE SUMMER AND I WAS SUPPOSED TO GRADUATE THAT SUMMER. SO IN ORDER FOR ME TO BE PART OF BOTH, I HAD TO COME UP WITH A PLAN TO GRADUATE AND BE PART OF THE PROGRAM. THE PLAN I CAME UP WITH WAS TO WORK LIKE TWO -- TO BE IN SCHOOL 24 HOURS BUT BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO BE SCHOOL 24 HOURS I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO WORK BECAUSE I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO WORK I WAS GOING TO GO BROKE AND BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO GO BROKE I WAS GOING TO GO HOMELESS. SO MY BEST PLAN WAS TO GO BROKE AND HOMELESS. I DID I SAID YEAH YOU'RE GOING TO DO THAT. YEAH. AND I ? I THAT QUESTION AND THAT ANSWER WAS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL THINGS THAT I DID AT THE TIME WAS BECAUSE AS I WORRY AS I COULD WHAT SACRIFICES WERE GOING TO BE INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT, I HAD ACCEPTED THEM BEFOREHAND. YOU HESITATE WHETHER YOU SHOULD GO FORWARD, HESITATE WHETHER YOU HAVE THE ENERGY, RESOURCES, THAT STUFF AND THAT BREAKS THE MOMENT UP AND YOU HAVE TO START FROM SCRATCH AGAIN. SO AS MUCH AS YOU CAN DO BEFOREHAND UNDERSTANDING WHAT ARE THE SACRIFICES, AND KIND OF LIKE SAID CONSEQUENCES AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, SO YOU'RE KIND OF ALREADY PREPARED BEFORE YOU GET TO THAT STEP. THAT'S ONE OF THE BEST THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO. WE KNEW WE WERE GOING TO ENCOUNTER THE SO WE CYCLED THROUGH DESERT FOR THREE MONTHS. WHEN I SAW A TREE FOR THE FIRST TIME, I CRIED. ONCE I KNOW THE GOALS THAT I WANT TO CREATE, ONCE I KNOW WHAT ARE THE GOALS THAT HAVE THE MOST LEVERAGE, I ALWAYS ASK MYSELF WHAT IS THE MOST DIRECT SIMPLE FAST SUSTAINABLE WAY TO DO THIS. I THINK WE COMPLICATE THINGS. WHEN WE TRY TO ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING, IT'S HARD FOR US JUST TO GO DIRECTLY, WE TRY TO CREATE EXTRA STEPS THAT ARE NOT NECESSARY. SO ALWAYS CHALLENGE MYSELF TO THINK WHETHER IF THIS IS THE MOST DIRECT WAY THAT I CAN DO THIS. IS THIS THE MOST DIRECT WAY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS. AND I REALLY CHALLENGE, LIKE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE WITH MYSELF. SAME WITH SIMPLICITY, GETTING RID OF UNNECESSARY. I THINK THAT WE LIKE TO COMPLICATE THINGS. WE LIKE TO ADD STUFF -- STEPS OR UNNECESSARY PROCESSES WHICH WE LOVE BY THE WAY. AND I THINK WHAT IF I MAKE IT SIMPLER, CAN I GO FASTER. I LIKE TO GET THINGS DONE. SO I WANT TO GO AS FAST AS I CAN. STILL SUSTAINABLE BECAUSE I'M SOMEONE THAT IS EXTREMELY DRIVEN. I USED TO GO 100% THEN CRASH. I USED TO GO 100% THEN CRASH.
