Pinker is a Johnstone Family Professor in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University. He is an experimental psychologist who conducts research in visual cognition, psycholinguistics, and social relations. He also writes for publications such as the New York Times, Time and The Atlantic, and is the author of ten books, the most recent of which is Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress.

Pinker is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, a Humanist of the Year, a recipient of nine honorary doctorates, one of Foreign Policy's "World's Top 100 Public Intellectuals" and one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World Today."

The Demystifying Medicine Lecture Series is designed to help bridge the gap between advances in biology and their applications to major human diseases. The lectures include presentations of patients, pathology, diagnosis, and therapy in the context of major diseases and current research. All clinicians, trainees including fellows, medical students, Ph.D. students, and other healthcare and research professionals are welcome to attend.
