CANCELLED - LINGO proteins: a new language for the mucosal barrier

The Herbert laboratory explores the regulatory networks that control immunity, inflammation, and tissue repair at the mucosal interface. Through the study of gastrointestinal parasites, Dr. Herbert's group has made important contributions toward understanding the development of alternatively activated macrophages and T helper cells type 2 immune responses. Recently, his lab has turned its focus on Trefoil factor proteins, which are an enigmatic family of mucosal cytokines known to promote tissue repair. Although these proteins were discovered more than 40 years ago, remarkably little is known about their immunobiology. In his presentation, Dr. Herbert will share unpublished data on discoveries that may inspire collaborative studies with other groups that are interested in mucosal immunoregulation and host-defense.
