Description: BD2K is an initiative to advance the science and technology of big data in biomedical research. This initiative will solicit and support research and development in these areas. Importantly, BD2K is also advancing NIH policies and practices that will bring data into the ecosystem of biomedical research. One such thrust is the facilitation of community-based efforts related to standards for biomedical research data. Standards make data more broadly useful, and standards advanced by communities are more broadly used.

This workshop will bring together about two dozen people who are involved with a variety of community-based standards efforts to address a set of specific questions with the goal of identifying what has worked well in such efforts.
