Description:	2005 David E. Barmes Global Health Lecture Former Director of the National Science Foundation Dr. Rita Colwell will present the 2005 David E. Barmes Global Health Lecture. Her lecture will focus on the relationship between climate and infectious disease, including cholera. Dr. Colwell has found the bacterium that causes cholera, V. cholerae, is associated with plankton in the ocean and that weather conditions, including elevated sea temperature, create a favorable environment for the bacterium to flourish.
