Description:	The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are collaborating on a series of workshops on moving pluripotent stem cell therapies into the clinic. The object of the series is to have an informative interchange between funders (NIH and non-profit organizations), regulators (FDA), industry, and academic researchers on how to develop and provide to the public medical advances using pluripotent stem cells. This is the second workshop of the series. This two-day workshop, “Pluripotent Cells in Translation: Preclincal Considerations,” is scheduled for July 10-11, 2012, at Natcher Auditorium on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. This meeting is unique in that its focus is on how to navigate BOTH regulatory and research pathways and is primarily aimed at investigators interested in translational research utilizing pluripotent stem cells. The first workshop, “Pluripotent Cells in Translation: Early Decisions,” was held in March 2011. The third workshop will focus on clinical trials and will be held in 2013.
