Description:	NCRM (NIH Center for Regenerative Medicine) Interview Lecture Stem cells have the amazing ability to self-renew and differentiate into a variety of adult tissues. Embryonic stem cells can produce an entire embryo while adult stem cells have a more limited development potential. We have found that adult stem cells can be efficiently reprogrammed into embryonic stem cells by somatic cell nuclear transfer. Understanding the mechanisms limiting the developmental potential of adult stem cells and identifying means of expanding their developmental potential is a major focus of the lab.
