Description:	Mercury elimination programs carried out by schools and laboratory facilities have significantly reduced exposure hazards, spill clean up costs and the potential for environmental releases of this persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic metal. Lessons learned from these programs may also be used in developing other initiatives to prevent pollution from laboratories and serve as examples for teachers to use in illustrating the relationship of environmental stewardship to human health. In this training workshop we will review several of these programs and their outcomes. The workshop format will include presentations by speakers followed by a section for questions submitted by the audience.
