Description:	Laurence F. Abbott is currently Brandeis Professor of Neuroscience in the Volen Center for Complex Systems at Brandeis University, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Physics in 1977. After a brief stint at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Larry returned to the Brandeis Department of Physics in 1979, where he worked on theoretical particle physics and a variety of topics in cosmology.
