Description:	Anthrax toxin represents an interesting example of how a proteinaceous pore transports large globular proteins across a biological membrane. One component of the toxin, termed protective antigen (PA), forms an oligomeric pore in the endosomal membrane and translocates the two enzymatic moieties of the toxin, the lethal factor and the edema factor, across the membrane to the cytosolic compartment. This presentation will summarize current knowledge of the structure of the pore, how it inserts into the endosomal membrane, and how it mediates translocation of its substrate proteins across the bilayer.
