Description:	Kris Hogquist received her Ph.D. degree in Immunology from Washington University in St. Louis, where she worked with David Chaplin and Emil Unanue. She did postdoctoral training in the lab of Michael Bevan at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she was instrumental in studies of agonist and antagonist peptide roles in thymic selection. She then joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota where she is currently a full professor. Her laboratory is interested in the molecular mechanisms of T lymphocyte development, in particular how the T cell receptor interacts with MHC/peptide ligands to result in positive selection (life) or negative selection (death) of the progenitor. Other areas of interest include how peripheral CD8 T cells are tolerized to self-antigens at the barrier surfaces. Kris is an incredibly thoughtful and interactive scientist who has made major insights into understanding thymic selection and how lymphocytes perceive and respond to self-antigens.
