Description:	Paul Love, M.D., Ph.D. Chief, Cellular and Developmental Biology Section Laboratory of Mammalian Genes and Development, NICHD Paul Love, one of the leaders in Immunology at the NIH, has been a pioneer in using genetically altered mouse strains to elucidate molecular processes that regulate T cell maturation and activation. His interests have ranged from dissecting intricate molecular phenomena such as the role of individual TCR-ITAMs in thymocyte selection to complex cellular processes such as thymus homing via CCR9. His work has yielded several highly cited publications dealing with signal transduction molecules downstream of the TCR, like LAT and RLK, and surface proteins that regulate TCR signaling, like CD5. Elegant work from his lab reveals how gd and ab TCR complexes differ in composition and signaling potential, which affect activation and lineage commitment. His more recent studies of T cell development have taken him back to hematopoietic stem cells which will be the focus of this IIG seminar. Paul is a very engaging and insightful speaker. The Immunology Interest Group (IIG) organizes activities designed to promote information exchange and interactions among NIH scientists interested in the field of immunology, broadly defined.
