Description:	Living systems have an uncanny ability to continuously process the information about the outside world and merge it with the information encoded internally to reach appropriate decisions. The underlying mechanisms can vary in complexity and sophistication, but they undoubtedly require systems level description, as I hope to demonstrate in this talk. I will focus on a few examples of signal processing present in bacteria, yeast and higher eukaryotes, illustrating how the use of diverse techniques can reveal frequently unanticipated sides of information integration by cells and their communities.
